The landscape park, stretching between Ormož and Središče ob Dravi, is very rich in various habitat types and extremely biologically diverse. Experts and connoisseurs have counted 105 species of nesting birds, 15 species of amphibians, 9 species of reptiles, and numerous mammals, among which the most important are the hamster and the otter (endangered mammals in Europe). So far, 43 species of fish have been counted in the Drava River, while the tributaries are home to the brook crayfish and brook lamprey. The common snail and horned snail are also common in the backwaters, and there are also several species of clams. The Drava River, with its tributaries and banks, offers walks, fishing, horseback riding, cycling, etc. This untouched world is full of river arms and islands

The park is divided into two conservation areas.

  1. First areaIt includes the Drava River and a belt of floodplain forests, where the river dynamics are very pronounced. Here, the Drava freely shifts its course, creating gravel bars, side channels, backwaters, and dead arms. This area is regularly flooded.

  2. Second areaIt represents an agricultural cultural landscape, which serves as a buffer zone to the first area. It is only flooded during major floods.

Visitors can enjoy various activities in the park, such as walking, fishing, horseback riding, and cycling. The untouched nature with numerous river arms, islands, dead arms, gravel beds, and reed beds offers a unique experience for nature lovers.
